Skin Care and Our Age

Our skin changes as we age. People in their twenties, thirties, forties, fifties and sixties need different skin care products. Here are some tips how to care for your skin at different stages of your life.

In your twenties

Your skin is at a peak of its beauty in your twenties. In order to care for your skin, use at least SPF 30 sunscreen. Avoid oily makeup and cover-ups. Use an oil-free moisturizer every day. In this age, you can also begin using an eye cream. Try using products that contain natural ingredients such as green tea which can reduce the risk of skin cancer development.

In your thirties

In your thirties, your skin is beginning to become drier. It is a time to start using thicker moisturizing creams. Continue using an eye cream and sunscreen. In addition, apply skin bleaching products to diminish dark spots from sun damage.

In your forties

In this age, your skin loses its tightness. It may begin to look dull and your pores may become larger. Age spots, freckles, discoloration are changes that mat appear on your skin. To improve your skin condition, use retinoids, anti-oxidants and alpha hydroxyl acids. Use also an eye cream and eye serums on a daily basis.

In your fifties

In this age, your skin needs a special care. This period is associated with menopause, which causes loss of Estrogen which gives your skin elasticity and keeps it hydrated. For that reason, wrinkles can appear around your eyes, drooping eyelids, and expression lines around the mouth and forehead.

Use anti-aging or wrinkle reducing formulas such as vitamin A or Glycolic acid products. Retin A reduces wrinkles and improves skin color, its texture, and its hydrating levels. Glycolic acid provokes a new formation of collagen, reducing wrinkles and expression lines. Postmenopausal women may also use a cream containing progesterone. It improves skin elasticity and firmness.

In your sixties

By age 60 our skin loses a lot of collagen. There are some good hydrating creams that contain Alpha Hydroxy acids (Glycolic acids), green tea, soy and retinol (vitamin A) which can be very helpful for your skin. Those creams cam reduce droopy skin and the retinol will reduce your fine lines.
